Hardwire radar detector is a radar detector which is attached into you car invisibly. Usually, the users hardwire their radar detectors by themselves. The first step in making your radar detector to become a hardwire radar detector is finding your mounting location for the radar unit. After you find it, mount it wherever you like in your car. Then, Locate your vehicles interior fuse box, and your owners’ manual

The next step to have a hardwire radar detector is referring to the manual and find which fuse is for either the radio, cigarette lighter, or ignition. You need to find a fuse that is for something that only powers on and off with the vehicle, not one that has constant voltage all the time.

Next step to have a hardwire radar detector is locate a screw in or around the fuse box area, and connect your black (ground) wire of the kit there. After that locate which ever fuse you selected (I use the radio myself) and pull the fuse out, insert the red (hot) wire along with the fuse back into it’s spot. Make sure the hot wire is in contact with the metal leg of the fuse.

This is the last step of making a hardwire radar detector in your car. Before hiding your remaining wire, run your power plug from the kit to the unit, plug it in, and turn the vehicle on. Make sure that your remaining wire nice and neat and zip tie it somewhere out of sight around the fuse box. Next turn the radar unit on, and it should now turn on/off with the vehicle.
